Clarkton’s Kayla Thompson played the National Women’s Golf Association Tournament at Springhill Country Club in Tifton, Georgia, on July 11-12.

On the first day, Thompson, a West Bladen High School and UNC Wilmington graduate, had a birdie, 11 pars, five bogeys and a double bogey for a score of 39-39=78.

On day two, she had four birdies, eight pars, four bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey for a score of 77.

Thompson’s two-day total was 155, which was 14 strokes behind the winning score of 141 recorded by Amanda Kim of Maryland.

Thompson’s next scheduled tournament is the Georgia Women’s Open in Dahlonega, Georgia, on July 15-16.
