Kayla Thompson, of Clarkton, a UNCW graduate, is on the west coast attempting to qualify for the LPGA tour.
The first round, played Thursday, found Kayla shooting 76 and being tied for 199 in the tourney. On Friday she shot 75 to bring her two day total to 151 and tied for 190 out of 333 participants. The tournament runs thru Sunday, August 26.
