Keep Bladen BeautifulThe Keep Bladen Beautiful Advisory Committee will hold an essay contest for all 6th grade students who reside in Bladen County or attend a school in Bladen County.

KBB President Sondra Guyton said, “We would like to encourage all of our students in Bladen County to think about how they can keep Bladen County green and how they can help encourage people to put litter where it belongs.”

The idea for the essay contest was sparked as a way to help young students to realize that they can play a role in keeping litter picked up as well as adults.

“Litter is everyone’s responsibility,” said Les Litter.

There will be first, second and third place prizes awarded. First place winners will receive a $100 gift card; second place winners will receive a $50 gift card and third place winners will receive a $25 gift card.

The writing prompt for the essay is to tell “What you can do to keep Bladen County clean.” Essays can be dropped off at the Bladen County Solid Waste Office located on Mercer Mill Road or mailed to Keep Bladen Beautiful Essay Contest,  1522 Mercer Mill Road, Elizabethtown, NC  28337.
