COLUMBIA, SC- Former West Bladen baseball coach and athletic director Kim Cain won his fourth state championship Friday night as his Green Sea Floyds, S.C., Trojans defeated Lamar 26-20 in the South Carolina Class A state championship game.

Cain, a Bladen County native, served as offensive line coach on Coach Donnie Kiefer’s staff. The Trojans compiled an 11-3 record and rolled through the first three rounds of the play-offs winning by an average margin of 52-16, before facing two-time defending champion Lamar in the title game.

Coach Cain had earlier won football state championships as an assistant coach in North Carolina at South View in 1991 and at Wallace-Rose Hill in 1994. He also won a North Carolina state baseball championship as an assistant at South View in 1991.

Cain was also an assistant coach for New Bern High football teams that lost twice in the state championship game.
