This past Tuesday the local Kiwanians had Eagle Scout, John Dean Alsup give a presentation on his recent trip to a conservation and agricultural workshop.

Alsup thanked the group for sponsoring him and touched on the different aspects of the learning experience.

“They taught us about forestry on Wednesday, which was my favorite part,” Alsup said about the workshop. He explained Forestry was his field of interest for a career.

Lancaster told the group the emergency responders have a softball tournament scheduled for October 2nd to also help raise funds for the training facility. He invited everyone to join them for the event.

The club decided to have the next Fifty-Fifty Fear Factor Fundraiser in April 2017. Lancaster said the emergency responders would be willing to assist with the fundraiser again next year.

Dr. Lisa Bryan updated the members on the club’s newly organized Terrific Kids program. Bryan explained Mrs. Hailey Cheshire, Principal at Dublin Primary School, and Mrs. Cheryl White-Smith, Principal of Elizabethtown Elementary, were excited about the new program being offered to their second grade students.

Bryan noted the club’s new program will start this year in both schools for the second graders and then the goal is to grow the program to include more classes next year.
