The Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club is the proud sponsor of two local high school students attending the Resource Conservation Workshop. High school juniors MacKenzie Morris from West Bladen High School and Nicholas Norris from East Bladen High School gave an overview of their experience to the Kiwanis Club at Cindy’s in Elizabethtown last Tuesday evening.

The Resource Conservation Workshop was held June 23 through June 28, 2019. Soil, science, land use, wildlife, water, fish and forest management were only some of the topics the students learned about during the workshop.

The students presented a short summary of the activities while at the workshop. FFA advisor Earl Miller was also in attendance to support the students.

The two Bladen County students gave Liz Driscoll, RCW Coordinator with the North Carolina State University Department of Crop and Soil Sciences high marks for her involvement and enthusiasm during the workshop.

Before the meeting was adjourned the newly elected Kiwanis Club President, Dr. Lisa Bryan presented the two with a check to assist with the costs of the workshop.

Each year the Elizabethtown Kiwanis club awards a scholarship to help with the attendance fees to this state conservation workshop.  For more information on the Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club and how you can volunteer to help  – email mailto:kiwanisbladen@gmail.com or visit https://www.facebook.com /kiwanisetown/
