Kristy Smith, a kindergarten instructional assistant at Elizabethtown Primary School, has been named Teacher Assistant of the Year for District 4 by the North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants.
Smith had to prepare a portfolio and be interviewed by the district committee. She will now be one of eight teacher assistants who will advance to compete for the honor of 2016 NCATA-Teacher Assistant of the Year.
Smith will have an interview with the ERH Committee on Feb. 20. We wish her the best of luck!
She is the wife of White Lake Police Chief Bruce Smith and they have two children.
