WILMINGTON – Former East Bladen star Lacey Suggs fired in 31 points this weekend as her UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawks opened Colonial Athletic Association play by splitting a pair of overtime games.

Friday night Suggs just missed a double-double with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in UNC-Wilmington’s 71-65 victory over Delaware.  

Sunday afternoon the White Lake native connected on 7 of 12 shots from the field and scored 18 points but Drexel escaped with a 73-72 victory. A 3-point play by Suggs had edged the Lady Seahawks ahead 70-69 with 1:01 left in overtime.

Suggs has scored in double-figures in UNC-Wilmington’s last 5 games and raised her average to 12.5 points per game. The senior guard leads the team on the boards grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game.

UNC-Wilmington will travel to William & Mary Friday night.
