WHITEVILLE – West Bladen grad Laikyn Pait knocked in 3 runs and belted 3 hits as Southeastern Community College split their season-opening softball double-header with USC- Salkehatchie Friday.

Pait connected for one of only two Lady Ram hits in the opener that was won by Salkehatchie 5-0.

In SCC’s 10-4 victory in the nightcap, Pait drove in a first-inning run with a single, then ripped a 2-run single and scored a run in the Lady Rams’ 7-run fourth-inning.

Another West Bladen alum, Madison Collins, pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief in the second game and allowed 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out two.

Southeastern will host Richard Bland on Feb. 13.
