RALEIGH – Elizabethtown’s Larrell Murchison received two awards at the 2018 North Carolina State football awards banquet.

The East Bladen graduate won the Carey Brewbaker Award given to the Wolfpack Defensive Lineman of the Year. Murchison also received the Alpha Rising Award that is presented to State’s Most Improved Player.

Murchison started all 12 games at defensive tackle for the Wolfpack and made 33 tackles – 15 solo. The 6-3, 291-pound junior was credited with 8 tackles for loss totaling minus 28 yards.

Murchison had 4 quarterback sacks for -21 yards, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and had 2 pass break-ups.

The Wolfpack will take a 9-3 record and 21st national ranking into the Taxslayer Gator Bowl against No. 20 Texas A&M on New Year’s Eve at 7:30 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.
