Spread the love

Individuals with an interest in both gardening and volunteer service are candidates for the Master Gardener Volunteer Program. No formal training is necessary. The program offers 54 hours of instruction that covers topics including lawn care, landscape maintenance, ornamental trees and shrubs, sustainable insect, disease and weed management, soils and plant nutrition, vegetable gardening, home fruit production, garden flowers and plant identification. Within one year of completing training, MGV’s are required to complete a 40 hour volunteer internship. Volunteering is a fun way to learn more, get to know your fellow MGV’s , and give back to the community.  Once you have completed the internship, half of your $120 fee will be returned to you. Classes begin February 21, every Tuesday through April 18 from 9am -4pm.  You will be delighted with all there is to learn.

If you would like to become a Bladen County Master Gardener Volunteer, please call Nancy Olsen 910-862-4591 and come by the office at 450 Smith Circle Dr. Elizabethtown to fill out an application. Completed forms must be in by February 14, 2017 in order to purchase books.
