liberty-taxLiberty Tax Service is continuing efforts to help Lumberton area victims of Hurricane Matthew. Our office located at 1107-D West Broad Street in Elizabethtown will collect outerwear for those who have been hardest hit by the flooding. Items donated will be distributed to area public schools and local charity organizations.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to bring donations to the offices, which are open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and on Thursdays from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Items to consider include:

*Clean Coats in good condition, especially children’s sizes

*Knit caps

*Mittens and gloves

Liberty Tax will deliver donated items to Robeson County Schools and the agencies assisting those affected by the hurricane, so that families can easily access things they need as weather the upcoming winter.

“We are continuing to focus on the needs of the hardest hit in our communities. With colder weather, we are particularly concerned about the welfare of our young people in our area and the homeless” said Angelia Alden, owner of Liberty Tax offices in Elizabethtown, Lumberton, Whiteville, Shallotte, Wallace, St. Pauls, Fayetteville, Sanford, Durham, Cary, Carthage, Southern Pines, Laurinburg and Raeford. “We know that with the help of our customers and others, we can make a difference.”

Liberty Tax understands that this is a difficult time for hurricane victims. We encourage those dealing with damage or destruction to keep track of receipts and out-of-pocket expenses related to the storm. The IRS allows tax deductions for casualty losses, but good record keeping is essential.

To find a local Liberty Tax office, call 866-871-1040 or visit www.LibertyTax.com. Liberty Tax does take appointments; however, they are not necessary.
