Lightning struck a well in the Lisbon area in the early morning hours of Tuesday causing the Bladen County Water Department to issue a boil water advisory for the Mt. Horeb/Lisbon Area.
“There was a lightning strike at the Lisbon Road well,” said Bladen County Water Department Director Randy Garner.
He said on Tuesday they do not know if the lightning damaged the pump or not as they were waiting for the well company to arrive and assess the pump. Garner said the water department crew installed two new fuses but that “did not solve the problem.”
Currently, he said water is being valved from the Rosindale Road well site and residents in the Mt. Horeb/Lisbon area are being asked to boil their water until further notice.
No other damage was reported from the storm.
