A team from West Bladen’s Lil Knights Basketball Camp won the regular-season championship in their age 12-13 division in Wilmington’s Halo Hoops summer basketball league.

The Lil Knights rolled through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. In Thursday night’s post-season tournament, the Lil Knights moved up to a stronger division and finished second, winning 4 games and losing 2 in the double-elimination event.

The Lil Knights won their opener then lost by 2 points to the regular season champion from the stronger division. The Lil Knights reeled off 3 straight wins before losing by 4 points to the same team in the championship game.

“I am very proud of these guys,” said West Bladen Coach Travis Pait. “They have been playing together for several years, and this was good experience for them. Coach Joseph Gore did a great job with them.”

Three of the Lil Knights – Jackson Pait, Tylik McCall and Hezekiah Blanks-Adams – were playing up in the 12-13 age group. “Halo Hoops is a great program,” added Coach Pait. “They have 2,200 kids playing in their winter league in Wilmington.”
