Spread the love

As the lazy days of summer are winding to a close, many parents are beginning to think about sending their children back to school. To help parents preparing for their children’s school days local volunteers, businesses and non-profits are working together for the Back to School Blast event.

The community helpers are still accepting donations for Polos in all sizes and colors. Also, any donations of school supplies for the students of Bladen County will be graciously accepted as well.  Bladen County Citizens, Patrick Bernicki, Sondra Guyton, Billie Hall and Tracy Smith have been leading the charge encouraging local civic organizations, businesses and churches to help lend a hand to students and their families with their back to school needs.

This is the third year of the uniform exchange event, first thought of by Hall and organized with Guyton and Smith. The Elizabethtown Rotary Club distributed collection boxes around Elizabethtown for anyone who would like to donate Polo shirts. Any color and size will be accepted and exchanged to students on Saturday.

The event is planned for Saturday, August 17th, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown.
