Valentine’s Day is an extremely well known holiday for those who’ve found their other half. The origins for Valentine’s Day go back into Roman times with its origins beyond that being a further mystery.

The celebrations for Valentine’s Day come from two cultures, the ancient Romans and early Christianity. According to History.com, the Romans celebrated a festival known as Lupercalia, a festival set on February 15th, dedicated to the god Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, along with Rome’s founders Romulus and Remus. The Christian roots also stem from the Romans, however with a different set up. Emperor Claudius II declared single men made better soldiers and banned marriages for young men. Saint Valentine continued to marry people in secret but was found and he was put to death.

Valentine’s Day is a day famous around the world, able to bring people together for better and healthier relationships. The things people can do for Valentine’s Day are almost endless. Many people go to a nice restaurant to eat with their partners or give each other presents. Valentine’s Day has a long and storied history that’s lasted through many centuries.
