Celebrate Veterans. Veterans Luncheon and Recognition.

Presenting Speaker: Tom Martin

Tom Martin is a retired Army officer with 21 years of active service and is a Vietnam Veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Bosnia. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Among the awards he received were the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal with V device and Purple Heart. He has a PHD in Old Testament from Barrington University and has pastored churches in North and South Carolina. He is currently an associate pastor of Dublin First Baptist Church. He retired from flying the helicopter for the Greenville Hospital system after 12 years in September 2012. He was also a bi-vocational pastor at the hospital. His story of being shot down in Vietnam and his survival will keep you on the edge of your seat. He is married to the Former Kay Pate Johnson and they live at White Lake.
Also Featuring the powerful documentary “Honor Flight one last mission”. Honor Flight is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War ll veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the a trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial constructed for them in 2005, nearly 60 years after the war. Many veterans say with the exception of their wedding day and birth of their children, the trip is the best day of their lives. However, 1,000 World War II die everyday and time is running out to get them on a Honor Flight.
