Wilmington, NC – Lower Cape Fear LifeCare has launched LifeCare Responds, an online resource for everyone in the community as COVID-19, the emerging Coronavirus, changes aspects of life for everyone.

LifeCare Responds can be accessed at www.LifeCareResponds.org, and features videos and other content to help people adjust to changes as our community faces COVID-19. It contains information from LCFL’s own experts, including videos from LCFL’s Grief Care Counselors about grieving during isolation, coping with COVID-19, relieving anxiety, and talking to children about the virus. A guided meditation is also available, to help with stress and anxiety.

LifeCare Responds also features information about advance care planning through Begin the Conversation, LCFL’s public education program about end-of-life and healthcare choices. Coverage of COVID-19 cases in other areas has raised questions for many about what types of medical interventions, such as use of ventilators, they would want themselves.

While LCFL typically offers monthly workshops to help anyone interested learn about advance care planning and begin the process of documenting and communicating their wishes, information has been moved online to LifeCare Responds until workshops can resume without COVID-19 concerns. Anyone interested in making their wishes for end-of-life care known can learn more about advance care planning, download the NC combined advance director form, and request a full Begin the Conversation workbook by mail.

“Our mission is to provide the highest quality education and support, and I am proud of our team’s innovative efforts to continue to meet the needs of our community, even in these changing and challenging times,” said Gwen Whitley, LCFL President and CEO.
