majestic-1There is excitement in the air at Majestic Funeral Home and Cremations in Elizabethtown as the staff is getting everything ready for Family Appreciation Day which is set to take place on Saturday from 1 until 4 p.m.

Eric Matthews, owner of Majestic Funeral Home, said there will be free food, games, inflatables for the kids, and door prizes offered throughout the day.

He said that funeral homes, traditionally, are there for families when there is a death. Matthews said that a funeral home serves the family, receives payment for their services, and the staff doesn’t really get to interact much with the family again until the need for their services arises once more.

Matthews said the reason for the Family Appreciation Day is to allow the staff at Majestic Funeral Home and Cremations to give something back to the community.

“Family Appreciation Day is not just for the families we have served, but it is for all families. This allows us to meet the people,” said Matthews.

He explained that when a storm or other catastrophic event occurs, people tend to turn to their families for assistance. Matthews said that the Family Appreciation Day is a way the staff can meet the members  of the community and begin building a rapport with them.

Terri  Johnson Matthews said in addition to meeting the people of Bladen County, the Family Appreciation Day will allow folks the opportunity to see and tour the facility as well as learn what types of services are offered.

Mr. Matthews said no one is turned away based on their ability to pay. “Let us look at what (funeral services) we offer and see if we can find a service that fits into your budget,” said Matthews.

He added that there will be plenty for everyone to see and do throughout the afternoon.  Majestic Funeral Home and Cremations is located at 114 South Pine Street, Elizabethtown.
