Dymaree_ThompsonA former employee of Smithfield Packing in Tar Heel was sentenced up to 74 months in prison Monday for shooting into the vehicle of his former supervisor as the supervisor left work.

Dymaree Thompson, 21, received a minimum of 51 months and a maximum of 74 months in prison for discharging a weapon into a dwelling or moving vehicle under a plea agreement with the state. Two counts of attempted first degree murder were dropped.

In statements during the session in Bladen County Superior Court, Thompson got into an argument with his supervisor while working at Smithfield Packing on Jan. 9. He was fired from his job, and while being escorted off the property, Thompson made threatening remarks to the supervisor.

When the supervisor left work, according to court statements, Thompson was sitting in a vehicle off the property, then fired shots into the supervisor’s vehicle.
