Bladen County Emergency Services Training Center at White Lake has hosted many local, state and federal agencies’ training exercises. Starting this evening the Marine Corps will have troops training at the center in between Elizabethtown and White Lake, NC.

Sergeant Gary Turlington with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office announced the training. He said, “It starts at dark and will run until midnight. The second Marine division is conducting an exercise at our training facility to hone their skills prior to deployment overseas.”

Sgt. Turlington warns about loud noises and crowded airspace that may come from the training operations. He added, “There will be a significant number of aircraft in our airspace conducting surveillance and troop deployment by tactical aircrafts.”

The center once housed White Lake Prison Camp before it was closed. The state allowed county to take ownership of the property in 2016. Now the property serves many with training opportunities.
