WILMINGTON – Freshman Maya McDonald has scored 12 goals in the first 7 games of her Cape Fear Community College soccer career to lead the Sea Devils to a 5-1-1 record.

McDonald, who set an East Bladen career scoring record of 143 goals during her high school career, knocked in 2 goals and dished out 1 assist in a season-opening 9-0 win over USC-Sumter.

In a 7-0 victory over Richard Bland College, McDonald posted the first ‘Hat Trick’ of her college career firing in 3 goals and adding 1 assist.

The Sea Devils squeaked out a 3-2 win over Louisburg as McDonald knocked in the 1st Cape Fear goal then assisted on the 2nd goal. McDonald poured in 5 goals to record another ‘Hat Trick’ in a 12-0 romp past Patrick & Henry.

The former East Bladen standout banged in another goal in a 3-0 victory over Wake Technical Community College.

McDonald’s 12 goals leads the Sea Devils in scoring, and she has totaled 3 assists.

Cape Fear Community is currently 3-0 in Region X Conference play and will host Lenoir Community College Saturday.
