BladenCountyDADistrict Attorney Jon David has named Assistant District Attorney Quintin McGee chief prosecutor of the Bladen County office.

McGee was previously assigned to the Brunswick office in the District Court division and most recently served as a major crimes prosecutor in Columbus County. He has personally handled a number of murder cases and high-profile jury trials during his four years of employment.

“Quintin McGee is a rising star in the District Attorney’s Office,” David said. “He has a bright future in our organization and I’m confident the people of Bladen County will appreciate his commitment to public service.

McGee has now worked full-time in the three counties that make up the 13th Prosecutorial District.

“I think that having the experience that I have gained as a prosecutor in both Brunswick and Columbus Counties has given me a strong institutional knowledge of the 13th district,” McGee said. “I’ve spent years working with all of the judges, attorneys, clerks and many of the law enforcement officers that I will now interact with daily. I think that rapport and the reputation that I have established in this district will serve me well in my new role.”

He is also a champion of the police-prosecutor team approach that David implemented when he was elected District Attorney in 2010.

“There are a number recent of high-profile cases that have occurred here and I look forward to trying those cases in the courtroom in front of juries,” he said. “Additionally, along with my arrival, there are some exciting physical changes that are happening within our office as well. An expansion of our offices within the courthouse is set to be completed later this month which will allow more space to accommodate our growing team and better serve the public.”

McGee said there will be “no task too small nor too big” during his time as chief of the Bladen County office.

“That is why you may very well find me in traffic court one week handling a seat belt ticket and the next week in Superior Court working a first degree murder case,” he said. “In this position, you must be flexible, efficient, and always have the willingness to serve the public. I hold myself to a high standard and, in turn, I will hold the individuals that I lead to that same standard.”

David said McGee’s past experience will serve him well in his new role.

“Quintin places a tremendous emphasis on being a voice for victims in the courtroom and he has a strong relationship with the law enforcement community,” David said.

McGee hopes to aggressively prosecute “violent criminals and habitual offenders.”

“Beyond that, targeting those who traffic drugs within our community is also high on my agenda,” he added. “It is my philosophy that by removing drug dealers from our streets and trying to assist the addicts that are left in their wake get treatment and a path to recovery is a great way to make our community safer.”BladenCountyDA
