State Superintendent Mark Johnson will visit Town Creek Elementary School in Winnabow (Brunswick County) on Friday, March 15, to observe the 6-month anniversary of Hurricane Florence making landfall in North Carolina on Sept. 14, 2018. The storm caused serious flooding and other damage to schools throughout eastern North Carolina.

Town Creek Elementary School was one of the schools hardest hit in Brunswick County. It remained closed until mid-October.

Superintendent Johnson will tour the school to view repairs, visit classrooms and teachers, and deliver books for the students. He will also deliver letters from 3rd graders in Morganton, N.C.
