East Bladen

Coach Jay Raynor’s East Bladen men’s soccer team opens their season at 6 p.m. Monday at Purnell Swett. The Eagles won the 2017 Three Rivers Conference championship with a perfect 14-0 record and finished the season with a 21-2 overall record.

Gone via graduation are leading scorer Brooks McGill (32 goals, 39 assists) and Caleb Hatchell (23 goals, 19 assists) but leading the returnees are seniors Greyson Heustess (19 goals, 25 assists), Pierce Melvin (14 goals, 14 assists) and Spencer Scott (64 saves, 15 shutouts in goal).

Other key returnees are juniors Gabe Barber (14 goals, 19 assists) and Jake Evans (17 goals and 17 assists).

West Bladen

Coach Phillip Turnage’s West Bladen squad will wait until Tuesday to travel to Purnell Swett for their 6 p.m. opener. The Knights posted a 7-6-1 record in 2017 league play and finished 7-9-2 overall.

Heading the list of Knight returnees is senior Victor Lopez, the Knights leading scorer with 13 goals. Also returning is senior Pablo Ortega (5 goals), junior goalie Angel Martinez (224 saves in 16 games), sophmore Joseph Masaid (8 goals 3 assists) and sophmore Keni Verdugo Gomez (4 goals, 3 assists).
