ELIZABETHTOWN – Clinton defeated East Bladen 9-0 Wednesday in junior varsity men’s soccer action.

The Dark Horses finally broke the scoring ice after ten scoreless minutes and eventually built a 5-0 halftime lead.

“(Goalie) Denny Wilkins did a great job for his first time in the net,” said Eagle Coach Jay Raynor. “Jay McGill and Brian Monore played great games in midfield for us. I was impressed with the play of Allen Owen and Trevor Dudley who were all over the place making plays. Jarrett Hill also made some nice plays out there.”

“We didn’t look bad even though we haven’t been together long,” added Raynor. “We knew we would be behind in technical areas and in experience, but we played hard and had fun.”

Raynor pointed out that having over 30 kids playing soccer at East Bladen shows how much soccer is growing in the county.

“That’s a good feeling and a huge step in the right direction for our program,” continued Coach Raynor. “I want to thank Coach Patty Evers (Athletic Director) for allowing that to happen. When I went to her about a JV team, she didn’t hesitate to help make it happen.”
