ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen defeated rival West Bladen Thursday night 7-2 in the first Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer game for both teams since their seasons were halted by Hurricane Florence.

The Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as sophomore Keni Verdugo Gomez fired in his second goal of the season. The Eagles rallied with a trio of goals that produced a 3-1 halftime lead.

Junior goalie Angel Martinez drilled in a penalty kick for the other Knight goal. Knight Coach Phillip Turnage praised the play of junior defender Eric Sandoval, “Eric had a great game with 7 steals and one save.”

Seniors Greyson Heustess and Ezequiel Arteaga fired in 2 goals each to lead the East Bladen attack. Heustess also dished out 2 assists. Senior Pierce Melvin contributed 2 assists to the Eagle attack.

Junior Jake Evans returned from an injury and racked up one goal and one assist for the winners. Senior Dan Tatum and sophomore Jay McKoy scored one goal each for East Bladen. Juniors Gabe Barber and Jay McGill were credited with one assist each.

Sophmore Jacob Priest picked up the victory in goal for the East Bladen.

East Bladen remained unbeaten in the TRC with a 4-0 record and improved to 8-0-2 overall.
