ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Brooks McGill fired in 2 goals and dished out 2 assists to lead East Bladen to a 9-0 Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer victory over East Columbus Wednesday night.

Juniors Greyson Heustess and Pierce Melvin were credited with 2 assists and one goal each as the Eagles raced to an 8-0 halftime lead before ending the game on the mercy rule 12 minutes into the second half.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute as sophmore Gabe Barber sent a pass to junior Irvin Hernandez who boomed in a shot from 34 yards out.

Two minutes later Heustess was fouled in the box, and Ezequiel Arteaga drilled in the penalty kick.

A minute later Pierce Melvin was awarded a free kick, and he directed the ball to McGill who converted the shot from 21 yards out.

In the 24th minute sophmore Jake Evans sent a pass to Gabe Barber who fired in the shot from 18 yards out for a 4-0 lead. Eight minutes later Pierce Melvin found McGill who banged in the shot from 9 yards out.

Two minutes later McGill returned the favor with a pass to Pierce Melvin who knocked in the shot from ten yards out.

Four minutes before halftime McGill fed Heustess who delivered the goal from 3 yards out. In the final minute of the half, junior B. J. Monroe fired a cross to senior Caleb Hatchell, and Hatchell smacked the shot past the keeper for an 8-0 lead.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Heustess connected with Monroe who blasted in the final goal from 24 yards out.

Pierce Melvin led the Eagle defense with ten steals. Junior Dan Tatum, Evans, Heustess and McGill collected 8 steals each. Hatchell and Arteaga added 7 steals each.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles remained unbeaten in league play with a 9-0 record and are 15-1 overall. East Bladen will travel to South Columbus Thursday for a 4:30 game.
