RED SPRINGS -Red Springs scored a pair of goals late in the second half to defeat West Bladen 5-3 Wednesday night in Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer action.

The Red Devils scored first on a penalty kick, but striker Brandon Labra turned an assist from junior Victor Lopez into the tying goal. Minutes later winger Pablo Ortega bombed in a long goal to put the Knights ahead 2-1.

Red Springs pulled even at 2-2, but defender Fernando Carranza banged in a header off of a corner kick from freshman Keni Verdugo Gomez to edge West Bladen in front 3-2. Red Springs tied the score 3-3 before halftime.

Junior Francis Rodriguez scored 4 of the Red Springs goals.

“This was truly a disappointing loss for us,” said Knight Coach Phillip Turnage. “We hope to rebound Monday versus St. Pauls. This will be our last home game of the year.”
