SoccerST. PAULS – Junior Victor Lopez recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals as West Bladen rallied from an early deficit to defeat St. Pauls 3-2 in Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer action.

A pair of early St. Pauls goals had the Knights down 2-0 when lightning stopped play with 7:20 left in the first half.

After an hour and a half delay, Lopez fired in two goals in 5 minutes to pull West Bladen into a 2-2 tie at halftime. Five minutes into the second half Lopez drilled in his third goal to put the Knights ahead to stay at 3-2.

“The defense really stepped up in the second half of the game led by goalkeeper Angel Martinez and defender Johnny Santanna ,” said Knight Coach Phillip Turnage.

Turnage added, “We hope to continue this win streak with three home games next week. I am particularly proud of the way we fought to come back and we didn’t let their early goals effect us in a detrimental way.”
