LAKE WACCAMAW – Senior Pablo Ortega fired in 2 goals Saturday to lead West Bladen’s Knights to a 4-1 Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer victory over East Columbus.
It was the third consecutive win for Coach Phillip Turnage’s Knights who improved to 4-3 in league play and moved into fourth place in the TRC standings.
“We are playing as a team now,” said Coach Turnage. “The defense, especially Joey Ferretiz, played exceptionally well as did goalkeeper Angel Martinez.”
Junior Wilmer Garcia and senior Edgar Pollo Garcia scored the other West Bladen goals.
The Knights will travel to third-place St. Pauls Monday for a 6 p.m. game.
