Elizabethtown, NC – 42 students at West Bladen High School have recently received their Microsoft Office Certification. This is the most students ever certified in the county in one semester. These students were recognized by the Board of Education members at the May Board meeting.

In order to obtain their certification the students take a proctored and timed performance based exam to demonstrate their skills. Bladen County  Schools has partnered with Microsoft Inc. to create a Microsoft IT Academy at West Bladen and the certifications are awarded through Certiport, Inc.

Certiport is the world leader in performance-based certification exams and these students have set themselves apart through their hard work and effort in the Microsoft IT Academy.

The certification is part of Bladen County School System’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program and has been established to enhance the opportunities for Bladen County students and will make them more marketable as they prepare to enter college and ultimately the workforce.

The students are instructed by CTE teacher Mark Allen.
