BLADENBORO – Bladenboro’s Bulldogs rode an 8-run third-inning explosion to a 10-6 baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery in Bladen Five Middle School Conference action.

Kaiden Stanley led off the Bulldog second inning with a single and came around to score the first run of the game.

Clarkton tied the game in the top of the third as Nyquan Richardson reached base on an error and raced home on Nazire Smith’s single.

Michael Young drew a one-out walk in the third inning and sprinted home when Stanley slammed a double. Elijah Crabtree and Aaron Wren drew walks, and Alex Strange was hit by a pitch. Wren’s walk forced home Stanley.

Wadeyn Norris knocked in Crabtree and Alex Strange with a single. Bryley Williams belted a single that scored Wren, and Devon Strange drove in Norris with a single. Brycen Blackmon swatted a single that scored Williams.

Young laced a single, and Stanley delivered his second hit of the inning to drive in Blackmon and boost the Bulldog lead to 9-1.

Donnie Ezzell was hit by a pitch and Lefon Monroe singled in the Blue Devil fourth inning. Devon Antone knocked in Ezzell and Monroe with a single. Richardson cracked a single that scored Antone and trimmed the Bulldog lead to 9-4.

Tragen McCullum blasted a home run to begin the Blue Devil fifth inning and trim the margin to 9-5.

Blackmon walked in the Bladenboro fifth and dashed home when Young walloped a double to pad the lead to 10-5.

Antone walked to start the Clarkton sixth inning and scored on a McCullum hit to close the gap to 10-6.

Stanley batted 3-4 with a double, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the Bulldog hitters. Blackmon finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Young batted 2-4 with the rbi double and a run scored.

Norris delivered the 2-run single and scored a run. Williams and Devon Strange connected for one hit each. Williams, Devon Strange and Wren drove in one run each. Williams, Crabtree, Alex Strange and Wren scored one run each.

Bryley Williams pitched the first 5 innings to pick up the win for the Bulldogs. Williams struck out six batters. Stanley closed out the game and struck out one in his one inning on the mound.

McCullum slugged the home run and scored twice. Antone, Davion Graham, Smith, Richardson, Monroe and Barnes connected for one hit each for the Blue Devils. Antone drove in 2 runs, and Richardson and Smith drove in one run each.

Antone scored 2 runs, and Richardson, Graham, Ezzell, and Monroe scored on run each. Samaj Dove started on the mound for the Blue Devils.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and moved into sole possession of first place in the Bladen Five with the victory.
