TAR HEEL – Bryley Williams pitched a 6-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead Bladenboro to a 12-2 Bladen Five Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tar Heel Thursday.

The Bulldogs jumped in front with a 4-run first inning. Williams drew a lead-off walk, and Devon Strange raked a single to rightfield. An error on Brycen Blackmon’s grounder scored Williams and Devon Strange.

Kaiden Stanley and Elijah Crabtree walked, and Josh Russ launched a fly ball to leftfield that scored both Blackmon and Kaiden Stanley.

Antonio Candelaria hammered a double to right-centerfield to start the Panther first inning. Candelaria advanced on a passed ball and scored on Tucker Carroll’s sacrifice fly.

Williams reached base on a fielder’s choice in the second inning, and Blackmon swatted a single to rightfield. Michael Young belted a single to rightfield that scored Williams and Blackmon to pad the Bulldog lead to 6-1.

Candelaria drew a third-inning walk, stole second and dashed home when Carroll laced a single to rightfield to trim the Bulldog lead to 6-2.

Blackmon slapped a single through the right side, and Young ripped a single to left-centerfield. Blackmon darted home on a passed ball, and Kaiden Stanley knocked in Young with a single.

Crabtree walked, and Russ smashed a double that scored Kaiden Stanley and Crabtree. Russ scored on an error to stretch the Bladenboro lead to 11-2.

Devon Strange drilled a double to right-centerfield, stole third base and scored on Blackmon’s fielder’s choice to up the count to 12-2.

Russ batted 2-2 with a double, 4 runs batted in and a run scored. Devon Strange finished 2-4 at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored. Blackmon batted 2-4 with a double, 3 runs scored and a rbi.

Young finished 2-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Kaiden Stanley and Alex Strange added one hit each. Williams and Stanley scored 2 runs each. Crabtree scored a run, and Kaiden Stanley had an rbi.

Candelaria batted 2-2 with 2 doubles and scored both Panther runs. Carroll singled and drove in both Panther runs. Riley Stanley also batted 2-2, and Andrew Sessoms collected the other Tar Heel hit.

Destin Montgomery started on the mound for the Panthers.

Coach Jerry Strange’s Bulldogs finished the season in second-place in the Bladen Five with a 4-2 record.
