WHITEVILLE – Ashton Davis pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 13 batters Wednesday to lead Bladenboro to a 13-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Williams Township.

Luke Bryant yanked a single to left and scooted home when Davis pounded a double to leftfield in the Bulldog 1st inning. Corben Chadwick drilled a double to left that scored Davis for a 2-0 Bladenboro lead.

Walks to J. Watts and K. Burchette plus Worley’s double produced the tying runs for the Aggies in the home half of the inning.

Drake Gause and Sawyer King drew walks and Chase Bryan was hit by a pitch to start the Bulldog 2nd inning. Bryant reached base on an error as Gause and Sawyer King scored, and Davis was hit by a pitch. Devan Stanley’s infield hit plated Bryan for a 5-2 Bladenboro lead.

Bryant laced a single to right field in the Bulldog 4th inning, and Davis knocked him in with a single to center field. Brooks Carroll walked, and Davis dashed home on a wild pitch. Stanley and Cole Brisson reached base on errors as Carroll and Stanley scored. Andrew Wren’s fielder’s choice plated Brisson as the Bladenboro lead grew to 10-2.

Burchette singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the home fourth. Bryan was hit by a pitch, and Bryant walked to begin the Bulldog 5th inning. Davis smashed a single to center field that scored Bryan and Bryant. Davis stole a base and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Davis batted a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to lead the Bulldog hitters. Bryant finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Chadwick slammed the RBI double.

Stanley singled, scored a run and had 1 RBI. Bryan was twice hit by pitches and scored twice. Wren drove in a run, and Carroll, Gause and Sawyer King all walked and scored runs. Brisson also scored a run.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and will host Nakina Tuesday.
