BLADENBORO – Michael Young pitched a complete-game 3-hitter and struck out 12 batters to lead Bladenboro to a 6-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tar Heel Thursday.

Jordan Underwood led off the game with a walk, advanced on Destin Montgomery’s fielder’s choice and scored when Jordan Bryan smacked a single to centerfield for a 1-0 Panther lead.

Aaron Wren reached base on an error to start the Bulldog first. Cade Allen knocked in Wren with a double to rightfield. Aidan Russ pulled a single to left that scored Allen. Young followed with a single that plated Aiden Russ, and Andre Moore lined a double to left that scored Young for a 4-1 lead.

Chandler Russ reached base on an error in the Bladenboro fourth inning and scored on Wren’s fielder’s choice to push the lead to 5-1.

Moore, Will Durden and Wadeyn Norris drew 2-out walks in the Bulldog fifth inning, and Moore darted home on a wild pitch to up the count to 6-1.

Young batted 2-3 with a run scored to lead the Bulldog hitters. Allen and Moore both doubled, and Aiden Russ singled. Aiden Russ, Allen, Moore, Wren and Chandler Russ scored runs. Wren, Allen, Russ and Moore drove in runs.

Montgomery pitched 5 innings for the Panthers and allowed 6 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out seven. Mason Jones pitched a scoreless sixth and allowed one walk.

Bryan drove in a run with a single, and Nolan Sessoms and Ahmir Stepps collected the other Tar Heel hits. Underwood scored the run.

Bladenboro will host Nakina Monday. Tar Heel will entertain Williams Township Monday.
