BLADENBORO – The Bladenboro Bulldogs defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 8-2 Thursday in Bladen Five Middle School Conferenc baseball action.

Logan West led off the home first with a single and stole second base. Nolan Bryant hammered a double that scored West. Colby White delivered a single that plated Bryant, and after Lant Pait forced White at second, Noah Deaver smacked a single that brought home Pait for a 3-0 Bulldog lead.

Javonte McDowell drew a 2-out walk in the Blue Devil second inning and stole second base.  However, McDowell was thrown out attempting to steal third by Bladenboro catcher Jake Butler.

Will Hester walked to begin the CSD third. Jake Evans dropped in a single, and Aaron Todd reached on an error to load the bases. A balk plated Hester and trimmed the margin to 3-1.

Butler reached on an error to start the Bulldog third and advanced to third on passed balls.  White knocked in Butler with a single, moved up on walks to Pait and Braylon Williamson and dashed home on a passed ball for a 5-1 Bladenboro lead.

West reached on a passed third strike to start the Bulldog fourth then stole second and third bases.  Bryant walked and Butler belted a 2-run single. Butler moved up on an infield out and a passed ball and raced home when Williamson laced a single for an 8-1 lead.

Four walks produced a Clarkton run in the top of the seventh. Andrew Cahn was forced home on a walk to Nick Norris that plated the final CSD run.

White started on the mound for Bladenboro and pitched 3 innings allowing one run on 5 walks while striking out three. West relieved in the fourth and pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out 6 and walking one. Bryant pitched the seventh and allowed a run on 4 walks while striking out two.

White batted 2-4 with a run scored and a run batted in for Bladenboro. Bryant contributed the rbi double and scored twice. Butler cracked the 2-run single and scored twice. Deaver and Williamson added rbi singles, and Pait scored a run.

Cahn, McDowell and Gabe Barber shared the pitching duties for Clarkton.

Hester and Cahn scored the Blue Devil runs, and Norris collected an rbi. Evans’ single accounted for the only Clarkton hit.
