BLADENBORO – Brady Durden pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 11 batters to lead Bladenboro to a 9-2 non-conference middle school baseball victory over Emereau Bladen Tuesday.

Davion Lewis slammed a double and raced home on Caleb Scruggins’ infield out to stake the Aviators to an early 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs roared back with 6 runs in the home half of the 1st inning. Hezekiah Blanks laced a single to center field and eventually darted home on a wild pitch to tie the score. Cade Allen and Chason Harris were both hit by pitches, and Ryan Dove walked.

Luke Howell blasted a grand-slam home run to left field. Luke Pait belted a single to center field, and Durden knocked him in with a single to center field as the Bulldogs built a 6-1 lead.

Howell drew a 3rd inning walk, and Blanks reached base on an error. Aiden Russ knocked in both runners with a double. Russ darted home on a passed ball as the lead grew to 9-1.

Claxton Tatum reached base on an error to start the Aviator 4th inning and sprinted home when Jake Gooden walloped a triple to whittle the lead to 9-2.

Howell slugged the grand-slam home run and scored 2 runs to lead the Bulldog hitters. Russ hammered the 2 run-double and scored a run. Blanks, Allen, Luke Pait and Durden connected for one hit each. Blanks scored twice, and Allen, Harris, Dove, and Luke Pait scored runs. Durden drove in a run.

Lewis doubled and scored a run for the Aviators. Gooden smashed the run-scoring triple, Tatum scored a run, and Scruggins had a run batted in. Lewis started on the mound for Emereau.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs closed out their season with a 5-1 record.
