CLARKTON – SaiQuan Leach’s 2-out single knocked in Aidan Hargrove with the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning as Clarkton School of Discovery edged Tabor City 5-4 Tuesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Hargrove was hit by a pitch to start the winning rally, and Dashon Campbell was intentionally walked before Leach delivered the game-winning hit.

Khalil McKoy pitched 5.2 innings for the Blue Devils and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 6 walks, while striking out five. Lefthander Aidan Trinidad relieved with 2 outs and the bases loaded in the 6th inning and induced a ground-out to end the threat and pick up the win.

The Red Devils grabbed an early 1-0 lead, but walks to Tony Todd, McKoy and Keyshawn Kemp loaded the bases in the 2nd inning. An error on Garrett Dunham’s grounder scored Todd and McKoy for a 2-1 Blue Devil lead.

Campbell drew a lead-off walk in the 3rd inning and raced home to pad the CSD lead to 3-1 when Leach’s drive to rightfield was misplayed. Tabor City trimmed the margin to 3-2 in the 4th inning.

Kemp walloped a double to begin the Blue Devil 4th, but was tagged out at the plate when Dunham blasted a triple to rightfield. Malikah Moore belted a single that scored Dunham and boosted the lead to 4-2.

Tabor City rallied with single runs in the 5th and 6th innings to tie the score.

Dunham and McKoy hammered triples to lead the Clarkton hitters. Kemp doubled, and Moore and Leach belted singles. Campbell drew 3 walks.
