Corey McKoy struck out seven batters and pitched a complete game to lead Elizabethtown to a 12-7 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory at Tar Heel Tuesday.
Keshaun Davis batted a perfect 4-4 and scored 2 runs to lead the Cougar hitters. Teammate Josh McKoy slammed a double and a single and scored twice.
Jasper Locklear hammered a double and a single and scored a run for Elizabethtown. Preston Sells smacked 2 singles and scored a Cougar run.
Jaylin Robinson and Riley Merritt added one hit each to the 12-hit Cougar attack. Jordan Robinson and Leonardo Vazquez scored 2 runs each for the winners, and Jaylin Robinson and Corey McKoy scored one run each.
Derrick Long pitched for Tar Heel and struck out 6 batters.
Noah Bryan and Dawson Bryan cracked 2 hits each and scored 2 runs each for the Panthers. Teammate Emonte Smith batted 1-2 and scored twice. Ryan Taylor walked and scored the final Tar Heel run in the fifth inning.
Elizabethtown will host Clarkton School of Discovery at 4 p.m. Thursday, while Tar Heel will entertain Bladenboro at 4 p.m. Thursday.
