TAR HEEL –Elizabethtown pounded out 17 hits and scored in all 5 innings to defeat Tar Heel 21-4 Thursday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference action.

Pitcher Jackson Wright batted a perfect 5-5, walloped a home run and a double, scored 5 runs and drove in 5 runs to lead the Cougars. Coleman Tatum turned in a 2-2 game at the plate and scored 5 runs. Weston Hatcher also batted 2-2 with a double and 2 runs batted in.

Evan Pait batted 2-2 with 2 rbi’s, and 2 runs scored. Ty Mathis slugged a home and a double and batted 2-3 with 3 rbi’s for the Cougars. Chase Starkloff finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored, and Raymond Autry blasted a 3-run homer and scored 4 runs.

Hunter Smith doubled home 2 runs for the Cougars. Korey Smith drove in a run with a double, and Chase Knight and Zamar Lewis scored runs for the winners. Ahmad Powell drove in a run.

Coleman Tatum and Wright cracked first inning singles before Autry clobbered his 3-run homer. Mathis hammered his solo home run, Pait walked, and Hatcher drilled a double to boost the lead to 5-0.

Destin Montgomery walked, and Antonio Candelaria belted a single in the Tar Heel first inning. Tucker Carroll knocked in both runners with a double to whittle the Cougar lead to 5-2.

Coleman Tatum walked in the Cougar second, and Wright smashed a double that scored Tatum. After a walk to Autry, Pait smacked a single that scored Wright for a 7-2 lead.

Riley Stanley drew a 2-out walk in the Panther second inning, and pitcher Alex Brisson pounded a triple that plated Stanley. Montgomery drove in Brisson with a single to whittle the lead to 7-4.

Starkloff and Coleman Tatum drew walks to begin the Cougar third. Wright plated Starkloff with a single, and Autry walked. Mathis ripped a double that scored Tatum and Wright. Pait’s infield hit plated Autry.

Hatcher followed with a single that scored Mathis. Pait scored on Powell’s fielder’s choice to grow the lead to 13-4.

Coleman Tatum walked, and Wright crushed a 2-run homer to begin the Cougar fourth. Autry reached base on an error, and Zamar Lewis, Hatcher and Powell drew walks. Autry and Lewis scored as the lead grew to 17-4.

Coleman Tatum rapped a single, and Wright knocked him in with a double in the Cougars fifth inning. Autry and Knight drew walks, Wright raced home on a passed ball, and Hunter Smith drove in Autry and Knight with a single for the final two Elizabethtown runs.

Candelaria batted 2-2 and scored a run for Tar Heel. Carroll drove in 2 runs with a double and finished 2-3 at the plate. Brisson hammered the rbi triple and scored a run, and Montgomery laced the rbi single and scored a run. Stanley also scored a run.
