ELIZABETHTOWN – Tyler Eason slammed a 2-run double that keyed an 8-run 6th inning rally and propelled Emereau Bladen to a 10-5 middle school baseball victory over Cornerstone Christian Monday.

The Aviators trailed 5-2 when Cade Rogers walked then stole a base to begin the pivotal 6th inning. Conner Hill drove in Rogers with a single then scored 2 outs later when Eli Woodell reached base on an error.

After Cooper Long walked, Eason knocked in Woodell and Long with his double that vaulted Emereau in front 6-5. Eason raced home on a wild pitch, and Jayce Hatcher and Ryker Strickland drew walks. Rogers belted a single that scored Hatcher, and Strickland and Rogers dashed home on wild pitches.

Rogers started on the mound for the Aviators and allowed 4 runs – 2 earned – on 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 hit batters while striking out 2 in his 3 innings. Grayson Freeman pitched 4 innings of 1-hit relief and racked up 8 strikeouts while allowing only 1 run and walking none.

Woodell smacked a single and scored a 3rd inning Emereau run on an error. Rogers walked in the 4th inning and came around to score on a pair of errors.

Eason delivered the 2-run double to lead the Aviator hitters. Hatcher, Rogers, Hill, Freeman and Woodell connected for 1 hit each. Rogers scored 3 runs. Woodell scored twice, and Long, Eason, Hatcher, Strickland and Hill scored 1 run each. Rogers and Hill had 1 RBI each.

“We had solid pitching from Rogers and Freeman,” said Emereau Coach Joseph Hatcher. “The bats came alive late led by Tyler Eason’s double to secure a come-from-behind win.”

The Aviators improved to 5-4 and are scheduled to host Harrells Christian Tuesday at County Park.
