NAKINA – Nakina bunched 4 hits and a walk to score 3 runs in the 4th inning and rally past Clarkton School of Discovery 5-4 Monday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

The Blue Devils grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Catcher Joshua Strickland walked, and pitcher Kyran McKoy was hit by a pitch. Aidan Trinidad drew a walk, and Hunter Wood’s fielder’s choice scored Strickland.

Nakina scored single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to go up 2-1. Clarkton rallied with 3 runs in the 4th inning. McKoy and Jaxon Hair belted singles, and Trinidad’s fielder’s choice plated McKoy with the tying run. Claxton Tatum walloped a triple that scored Trinidad, and Dashon Campbell blasted a triple that drove in Tatum with the go-ahead run.

Campbell batted 2-for-3 with a run-scoring triple. Tatum cracked the RBI triple, and Hair and McKoy belted 1 hit each. Trinidad and Wood had RBIs, Trinidad, Wood and Strickland scored runs.

McKoy started on the mound for the Blue Devils and pitched 3-plus innings, allowing 5 runs – 3 earned – on 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out one. Tatum pitched 2 scoreless innings of 2-hit relief and struck out five.

The Blue Devils will host Bladenboro Wednesday at 4 p.m.
