TABOR CITY – Tabor City defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 7-2 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School baseball action.

Garrett Dunham ripped a single to center field in the Clarkton 1st inning, and Lee Barnes walked. Dunham dashed home as Ja’Nathan Johnson reached base on an error.

The Red Devils bunched 2 hits and a walk to take a 2-1 lead in the home 1st. D. Johnson’s triple key a 2-run Red Devil rally in the 3rd and Tabor City tacked on 3 more runs in the 5th.

Parker Greene yanked a single to left to start the Blue Devil 6th inning, and Josh Futrell laced a single to center field. Maison Brooks reached base on an error, and Dunham drew a walk to force home Blaine Pope, the courtesy runner for Greene.

J. Dixon and D. Johnson combined to pitch a 6-hitter and strikeout 15 batters for Tabor City. Johnson batted 2-2 with a triple, a double, 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Dixon finished 3-3 at the plate with a double, an rbi and 3 runs scored.

Futrell batted 2-3 to lead the Blue Devil hitters. Greene finished 2-4 at the plate. Lee Barnes hammered a double, and Dunham singled, scored a run and drove in a run. Pope scored the other CSD run.

Barnes pitched a 7-hitter and struck out 8 batters, but allowed 7 runs – 6 earned.
