EVERGREEN –West Columbus defeated Elizabethtown 10-2 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

The Warriors bunched 4 hits to take a 2-0 1st inning lead. Darius Williamson walked in the Cougar 2nd inning, stole 2nd base, advanced on a passed ball and dashed home on Colton Dailey’s fielder’s choice.

Two hits, 2 walks and an error produced 2 more runs in the Warrior 3rd inning that grew the lead to 4-1. West Columbus tacked on a run in the 4th, 3 more runs in the 5th, and 2 runs in the 6th.

Torrean Cogdell lined a single past the Warrior secondbaseman to begin the Cougar 7th. Isaiah Lee smacked a single to right field. Braylon Cromartie belted a single to center field that scored Cogdell with the 2nd Elizabethtown run.

Lee batted 2-for-2 to lead the Cougar hitters. Cogdell finished with a 2-for-3 day at the plate and scored a run. Cromartie knocked in a run with a single. Chace Butler, Andrew Horne and Conner Monroe connected for 1 hit each. Dailey drove in a run, and Williamson scored a run.  

Williamson worked the first 2.2 innings on the mound and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. NaToren Corbett relieved and pitched 3.1 innings allowing 6 runs on a hit and 4 walks while striking out 5.
