WHITEVILLE –Williams Township pulled away with a 6-run sixth inning and defeated Tar Heel 10-2 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Tar Heel’s I’Keir Murchison slammed a double to lead-off the game, stole third base and scored when Destin Montgomery cracked a single.

Williams answered with 2 runs on 2 hits in the home first. The Aggie lead stayed at 2-1 until a pair of lead-off walks in the fifth inning led to two more runs and a 4-1 lead.

Jordan Underwood belted a single to start the Panther sixth inning and scored the second Tar Heel run.

Three Aggie hits and a pair of errors helped produce the six Williams runs in the sixth inning.

Murchison batted 2-3 with a run scored to lead the Tar Heel hitters. Montgomery, Jordan Bryan, Nolan Sessoms and Mason Jones connected for one hit each for the Panthers.

Murchison started on the mound for Tar Heel and struck out 4 batters while allowing 6 hits and 5 walks.

Tar Heel will travel to Clarkton School of Discovery Monday.
