BLADENBORO –Williams Township rallied for 4 runs in the final 2 innings Tuesday and knocked Bladenboro from the unbeaten ranks with an 8-6 victory in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

It was the 1st baseball defeat for the Bulldogs since a 5-3 loss to Whiteville Central on May 6, 2021. Bladenboro had won their last 18 games until Tuesday.

The Bulldogs carried a 6-4 lead into the 5th inning when a single, a walk, Peyton C.’s 2-run double and a passed 3rd strike produced 3 runs and vaulted the Aggies ahead 7-6. A walk and 2 hits led to another Williams run in the sixth.

Ashton Davis pitched 4.1 innings for the Bulldogs, striking out 13 and allowing 3 walks, 2 hits, a hit batter and 5 runs. Chase Bryan relieved with 1 out in the 5th and worked 1.2 innings on the hill striking out 5 and allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks.

Devan Stanley batted 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Davis tripled, had 3 RBIs and scored a run. Bryan walked twice and scored 3 runs. Brooks Carroll hammered a triple, and Cole Brisson slammed a double. Luke Bryant and Andrew Wren scored runs.

After Williams scored 3 runs in the top of the first, Bladenboro answered with 3 runs in the home half. Bryant reached on an error, Bryan was hit by a pitch and Davis knocked them in with a triple. Stanley belted a single that scored Davis with the tying run.

The Aggies went up 4-3 in the top of the second, but Bladenboro answered in the home half. Wren was hit by a pitch, Bryan and Davis walked, and Stanley drove Wren and Bryan in with a single for a 5-4 lead. Bryan walked and Davis drove him in with a fielder’s choice to pad the lead to 6-4 in the fourth.

Bladenboro, now 5-1 in the Waccamaw ‘A’ Division and 6-1 overall, will be idle until after Easter when they travel to Nakina on April 20th.
