BaseballCLARKTON – A ten-run second-inning carried Clarkton School of Discovery to a 15-5 Bladen Five Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tar Heel Thursday.

The Panthers grabbed an early 2-0 lead as Jordan Underwood was hit by a pitch and Antonio Candeleria walked and both of them scored first inning runs.

Clarkton answered with a first inning run as Ayden Piland, Jacob Priest and Victor Campbell all drew walks and J. T. Junious was hit by a pitch. Piland was forced home by Campbell’s walk to trim the Tar Heel lead to 2-1.

In the Blue Devil second inning, Weston Hodge, Andrew Cahn, Priest, Junious, Campbell and Jacob Bryan all drew walks and Piland was hit by a pitch. Nick Norris and Cahn connected for hits, and Hodge walked for a second time in the inning. All of them scored as Clarkton took an 11-2 lead.

Alex Brisson singled and scored in the Tar Heel third inning.

Clarkton tacked on 4 runs in the home third to stretch their lead to 15-3. Bryan and Norris drew walks, and Hodge and Cahn delivered hits. All four of them scored.

Tar Heel scored twice in the fourth. Jadicus Register walked and Candeleria belted a hit. Both of them scored to account for the final 15-5 margin.

The Blue Devils improved to 3-1 with the victory.
