Clarkton School of Discovery Boys 50, East Arcadia 20

Adonis Avery tossed in 11 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 50-20 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over host East Arcadia Middle School Thursday.
Clarkton spurted to a lead with two baskets each by Avery and Pierce Melvin. Greyson Heustess worked inside for another basket to extend the lead. Avery and Melvin combined to hit four free throws to give Clarkton a 14-5 lead after the first period.
Avery, Heustess, and Shy Pone chipped in two baskets apiece to extend the Clarkton lead. Seven Campbell and Lawson Hester combined for five points during the quarter. A three pointer by Joshua Pope gave Clarkton a 34-7 lead at the half.
East Arcadia cut into the lead during the third period, but baskets by Drew Harris and Xavier McKoy gave Clarkton a 38-16 lead after the third period.
Clarkton surged ahead in the final period with two baskets each by Harris and Campbell. Pone and Juwan Baldwin added baskets to round out the Clarkton scoring.
B. Bowen led the East Arcadia scoring with 8 points, and S. Thomas added 5.
Clarkton finishes the regular season undefeated at 8-0 and will enter the conference tournament as the number one boys’ seed next week.
