CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery raced to leads of 9-0 and 21-3 en route to a 51-10 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Tar Heel.
J. T. Junious dropped in 3 baskets and a free throw in the first quarter, and Jacob Priest tacked on a basket as the Blue Devils grabbed a 9-0 lead.
Clarkton’s Donevin Keith pumped in 2 baskets in the second quarter, and Priest, Jake Garrison, Cornelius McArthur, and Jackson Bostic tossed in a basket each as the lead grew to 21-3.
Center Kai Belle worked the paint for the first Panther basket, and teammate Antonio Candeleria sank a free throw.
Junious popped in a trio of baskets in the third quarter, and teammate Garrett Melvin pumped in 2 baskets. Priest, Malachi Oxendine and Nyshawn McMillian threw in a basket each as the lead swelled to 37-3.
Priest connected for 2 baskets in the final period, and teammates Melvin, McArthur, Oxendine, Keith and Bostic added a basket each.
Khalil Lloyd bombed in a 3-point basket for the Panthers in the final quarter, and Alex Brisson and Belle netted baskets for Tar Heel in the period.
Junious topped the Blue Devil scoring with 13 points, and Priest racked up 10 points. Melvin and Keith finished with 6 points each.
Belle led Tar Heel with 4 points, and Lloyd tallied 3 points.
Clarkton will host East Arcadia Thursday at 4 p.m., while Tar Heel will entertain Bladenboro.
